The following is the Reunion 2013 schedule with times and locations.  Updates will be posted to this site.  A printed version of the final schedule will also be available at the Reunion Welcome Center upon your arrival on campus.

Thursday, May 30

Scenic Train Ride to Rockland
(Pre-registration required)
Take a scenic rail journey up the Maine coast on a privately-chartered ride. Watch from the comfort of a vintage train car as the picturesque villages, coastal scenery, and wildlife pass your window. The train’s destination is Rockland, where you’ll be able to spend time enjoying the sites before heading back to campus in time for dinner. On the return trip, the train will stop in Bath so the Class of 1963 classmates and guests can take a shuttle to the Maine Maritime Museum for the class’s reception and dinner.

Kick off Reunion Weekend at Joshua’s Tavern with a reception for 5th and 10th Reunion classes. Make sure to check in at the Reunion Welcome Center to pick up your housing assignment and a detailed weekend schedule before heading to the reception (as the Welcome Center closes at 11:00 p.m.). A shuttle will circulate between campus and Joshua’s during the reception, and drink tickets will be available at the reception.

Take a shuttle from campus to Bowdoin’s Coastal Studies Center. Explore the grounds and talk with Collin Roesler, associate professor and chair of Bowdoin’s earth and oceanographic science department, about the interdisciplinary research students and faculty are conducting at this amazing facility on 118 acres on nearby Orr’s Island.

Reunion Sing—Raise Songs!
Now in its seventh year, the Reunion Sing has become a popular part of Reunion Weekend for Polar Bears of all ages. Join in the open sing with Tony Antolini ’63, director of the Bowdoin Chorus. It doesn’t matter if you never sang when you were at Bowdoin—it’s never too late to join this multigenerational choir and raise your voice in song! We’ll sing preselected music that includes Bowdoin College songs, Glee Club standards, and choral masterpieces. Some will be for mixed choir, others for men’s choir—a nostalgic sound that gave rise to the slogan “Bowdoin Is a Singing College!”

Bowdoin Boys in Blue—and Gray, an exhibition featuring Civil War era manuscripts and archival material from the George J. Mitchell Department of Special Collections & Archives, commemorates the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. Twenty-five percent of then-living Bowdoin alumni and students served during the war (eighteen joined Confederate ranks), and their letters, diaries, and military documents represent important historical resources that illuminate the Civil War period, both in the field and on the home front. Director Richard Lindemann will guide Reunion alumni and guests through the exhibition.
