Bowdoin Invitational
Essex County Club

Essex County

Join Bowdoin alumni from across the generations for a day of golf. Register early as this event sold out in 2014. Join Polar Bear friends and family to honor the College’s commitment to access and opportunity by raising funds for Financial Aid, while sharing a day out on the course.

Who: Open to all members of the Bowdoin community
What: 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, reception and dinner with fellow Polar Bears
When: September 16, 2015 | Registration opens July 22
Where: Essex County Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA
Why: Proceeds from the 2015 Bowdoin Invitational will support financial aid endowment through the Wil Smith ’00 Scholarship Fund. As a student and then Associate Dean of Multicultural Student Programs Wil was a beloved figure and the campus community seeks to honor his memory through scholarship. The Fund will support students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership within their communities. Read more on Wil and his story. If you are interested in supporting the fund directly, please contact Kate Wight at kwight@bowdoin.edu.

The Host Committee is looking for exciting prizes to raffle, or possibly auction off, at the event. Do you have something (i.e. sports tickets, services, special access, retreat) that you would like to donate to this fun outing? Please contact Kate Wight at kwight@bowdoin.edu.

How much: Pay-to-play single registration, $295 all inclusive; reception/dinner only, $90

Play at Essex

Essex County ClubThe Essex County Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, was founded in 1893. The original Club House was completed the same year. At that time, the grounds included a full size polo field, two clay tennis courts, and a nine-hole golf course. Today, ECC boasts an expanded Club House and eighteen-hole golf course designed by Donald Ross. Completed in 1917, the course features design traits recognized as distinguishing Ross’s finest work. Ten grass and ten clay tennis courts, three paddle tennis courts, and a full size swimming pool are also a part of the Club’s amenities, located on 180 acres of pristine landscape.
